January Athlete of the Month 2012 - Priscilla Barrington

What attracted you to the sport of triathlon?

I had been running with an athletic club for a few years and wanted to try something different, so decided to give triathlon I go. I didn’t have a bike so I borrowed my then boss’s 6 month old Felt bike – full carbon durace, which was just sitting in the shed getting dusty! I didn’t know anyone who did it or have anyone to train with, so I would drag my parents down to the races on a Sunday to have a bit of support. Thinking back to those races compared to Club Champs in January, races and training are a million times more fun!

Who would be your ideal training partner?

A very good looking guy who is faster than me so I always get to run or ride behind him and enjoy the view

Least favourite session and why?

Wednesday night flipper training in the pool. It hurts so much after a solid run on the track Tuesday morning and ride Wednesday morning.

If you had one wish, what would it be?

For there to be a Reddog UK. I am heading to London for 6 months and will hopefully be training for World Champs during that time. No idea how I will do it without the support and structure of Reddog. Or realistically the banter and heckling that keeps me turning up to every session. I’ll need a hoe to heave my custard tart arse off the couch potato to snoop a loop around London looking for a vertigo climb, after which I’ll reward myself with some bindilicuous cheese at the stacey mart.

Favourite motivational quote?

Make every session count.

No pain no gain.
