December Athlete Of The Month
So far this season he has had 5 wins from 5 starts over all distances;
Half Iron Man (Calypso Bay), Olympic Distance (Adelaide Challenge Series), 5km Open Water Swim (Pan Pacific Masters Games), Half Olympic Distance (Raby Bay), Sprint Distance (Robina).
A big thank you to Robson Bond from Active Stride for donating this months prize.
Here's a brief interview I did with Nashie on presentation of his award;
How much training is required each week? Not telling or else my competitors will get the inside scoop.
Do you ever have a day off from training? Still not telling.
What annoys you the most? People with all the gear and no idea.
Your most admired age grouper? Richard Thompson (Thommo), he's like a celebrity because he won Hawaii this year.
If you were a coach? My sets would be boring cause I have no imagination. (That's why I pay REDDOG to coach me!)
Goals for 2009? Make the Australian Age Group Team, change a nappy on my new born baby before she is out of them (1 month and still haven't changed one) You think I'd be right with this stuff considering I'm a plumber.
If you had one wish? To be able to drink piss and stay fit.
Why did you get into Triathlons? So I wouldn't get grossly overweight.
Who would be your ideal training partner? A blonde with DD cups that could swim, run & ride beside me every session of the week.
Most enjoyable race and why? Goondiwindi Hell of the West 2007 cause I beat the nearest age grouper by over 10 minutes and got 4th outright. I swam and rode with the pro's and drank heavily on the bus trip home with 10 good mates for 8 hours.
Triathlons you would like to do and why? Julia Creek - Dust & Dirt Triathlon because there's a rodeo afterwards. Phuket - Because the swim is held in the ocean and a fresh water lagoon and you get to pat an Elephant at the finish. Escape from Alcatraz - cause it looks tough.
The race that scares you the most? Hawaii Iron Man.
