October Athlete of the Month 2010 - Tyron Easterbrook
Reddog AOTM, how do you feel about that?
I feel very honoured to be AOTM but not sure that I deserve it.
What attracted you to the sport of triathlon?
I can't remember but I do remember how hooked I was after my 1st race in 1990 in the MILO junior series at Redcliffe. I did no training for that race and it hurt like hell but I loved it!!
If you were Reddog coach for the week, what would you do differently?
I am a coach but I would like to add a bit more variety every few weekends like Ins & Outs type session up or down the coast. Great for open water training
How much training do you do at the moment?
Not as much as I'd like to but I generally try get a session in every day. Motivation is a killer these days and I find it hard to train if I don't have goal.
Least favourite session and why?
I don't really have a least favorite session. When the head is in the right space I enjoy all 3 sports.
If you had one wish, what would it be?
To be young again and have a different approach to training/nutrition and everything that goes with it. Oh and have my original knee back :-)
Favourite motivational quote?
SHUT UP LEGS!!
What advice would you give to other Reddogs who would like to be AOTM?
Unless you are making a living from the sport (which not a lot of people are) then just be realistic with what you want out of triathlons and don't take it too seriously. Just enjoy it and the rewards will come!
What are your goals?
One day when I grow up I’d like to be able bodied enough to have a crack at Hawaii IM.
Who would be your ideal training partner?
Luke Harrop. Growing up we had so much fun pushing each other to the limits.
