April Athlete of the Month 2012 - Kristen Walker

Reddog AOTM, how do you feel about that?

Stoked!  I've been working really hard getting back into training after an unconvincing and somewhat health-hazardous effort at Mooloolaba tri in March.

What attracted you to the sport of triathlon?

As a teenager I swam with triathletes and always figured that "one day" I too would do Noosa triathlon.  Then I went to uni, stopped swimming and started partying .  About three years (and approx. +25kgs) ago I decided it was time for me to lose weight, get fit and have a go at Noosa myself and I haven't looked back since.

Least favourite session and why?

Anytime the temperature is only a single digit is my least favourite.  The cold and I are not friends.

Favourite motivational quote?

"There is no such thing as bad weather - only the wrong clothes" Billy Connolly.

How much training do you do at the moment?

Lots, in the hope of finishing Cairns 70.3 in one piece.

What are your triathlon goals?

Spend winter running and racing because I am wanting to break the 50 minute barrier for 10km off-the-bike next season.  Mostly I just want to continue to stay fit, have fun and enjoy training.

Dream triathlon race?

The Wildflower long course triathlon looks like a cracker of a race to complete or maybe a "Challenge" race in Europe.

When you’re not training you're....

Working hard in dispute resolution and insurance, thinking about what's for lunch and dreaming about my next overseas holiday.
