ATHLETE OF THE MONTH – FEBRUARY 2024
OSKAR CANEBORG
Congratulations to Oskar Caneborg for being selected as Red Dog's Athlete of the Month for February 2024.
Oskar wins this month's award for his performance in finishing second in his age group at Tweed Enduro. Well done!!! A big thank you to our sponsors for donating this month’s prizes.
1.Red Dog AOTM, how do you feel about that?
Very surprised but immensely stoked! Huge shout out to my pregnant wife that stood in the rain for 5 hours in Tweed and who puts up with my ironman training schedule!
2. When did you join the club?
I joined the club in late 2021. I was initially referred by Clare Smith (nee White) after a painful and poorly prepared Noosa tri in 2020. I was impressed by the camaraderie and welcoming culture of members at sessions. The flashy Red Dog tri suits were also a bonus!
3. How much training do you do at the moment?
I'm training 10-15 hours a week at the moment in preparation for Port Mac IM.
4. What’s your favourite session and why?
Thursday morning run club attempting to desperately stay on GT's heels!
5. Who’s your ideal training partner and why?
Someone that brings plenty of spare inner tubes and cannisters on long rides and knows how to change a tire!
6. Favourite motivational quote?
"Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit however, it lasts forever. That surrender, even the smallest act of giving up, stays with me forever. So when I feel like quitting, I ask myself, which would I rather live with?" - Lance Armstrong.
7. The one bit of advice I’d give to a newbie is…
Swallow your pride when you get lapped in the pool by people 20 + years your senior!
8. What’s your next event?
Port Mac IM
9. What do you do outside of training?
At the moment nothing, training is life!
10. What’s your one guilty pleasure?
Watching Married At First Sight...
