ATHLETE OF THE MONTH – NOVEMBER 2022
CHELSEA AULD
Congratulations to Chelsea Auld for being selected as Red Dog’s Athlete of the Month for November 2022.
Chelsea wins this month's award for her commitment and positive approach to training for Busselton Ironman. Well done!
A big thank you to our sponsors for donating this month’s prizes.
1.Red Dog AOTM, how do you feel about that?
I feel super pumped and proud! Just what I needed leading into Ironman.
2. What attracted you to the club?
I think it was around March 2021. I started swimming at Yeronga. What attracted me to the club... Well it definitely wasn't the colour. Red is not my colour and I distinctly remember saying you would never see me getting around in a red Tri suit. But it was Angie that first brought me to the club, and on day 1 when I saw Trent walking around with pink socks and Bruno's face on them, I knew this was the club for me.
3. How much training do you do at the moment?
I train pretty much every day with the odd day off here and there.
4. What’s your favourite session and why?
I love the Saturday rides. They're always an adventure and a good mix of pain, socials and coffee.
5. Who’s your ideal training partner and why?
A bike mechanic to change all my flats.
6. Favourite motivational quote?
1% better every day. Focus on one small action per day that will get you one step closer to where you want to be tomorrow.
7. The one bit of advice I’d give to a newbie is…
Don't be afraid to shoot for the stars. I've blown my own mind with how much I've achieved in my time with Red Dog. I started as a complete amateur, I'd never done a tri, Id bought a pretty crappy bike off marketplace, I'd fallen off countless times trying to use cleats and I couldn't swim straight to save my life. Now, I'm just about to tick off my second Ironman. It's all about mindset and showing up 100%. So, I'd tell all newbies to aim high! Plus, if you sign up to Ironman, Ang Clarke makes you rocky road.
8. What’s your next event?
Busselton Ironman this Sunday! And then Tweed in February.
9. What do you do outside of training?
I am a dedicated mother to my two small fur-children. When I'm not taking them for walks or dressing the family up in matching outfits, I'm drinking wine with my fiancé Euan, or some of the wonderful girls from red dog.
10. What’s your one guilty pleasure?
Buying new training gear (and hiding it from my Euan). The excuse of "it was on sale" doesn't pass anymore.
