ATHLETE OF THE MONTH – JULY 2021
BRODIE ELLIS
Congratulations to Brodie Ellis for being selected as Red Dog’s Athlete of the Month for July 2021.
Brodie wins this month’s award for his performance at training. His commitment and determination are inspiring. Well done!
A big thank you to our sponsors for donating this month’s prizes.
1.Red Dog AOTM, how do you feel about that?
I am so surprised and really grateful to be awarded this title.
2. What attracted you to the club?
My sister, Sabrina, has been swimming with Trent for 13 years and he very generously offered to help me after my accident.
3. How much training do you do at the moment?
I don’t call it training – I call it fun! I swim 4 times a week on top of my regular physio and rehab.
4. What’s your favourite swim set and why?
Anything that doesn’t involve kick – it’s a bit harder with only one leg!
5. If you had one wish, what would it be?
I have a few ……. but atm I’m hoping Bluesfest isn’t cancelled again this year due to Covid.
6. Favourite motivational quote?
Quitters aren’t winners.
7. The one bit of advice I’d give to a newbie is…
Stay as consistent as you can and listen to Trent.
8.What’s your next event?
I’m aiming for a 2 km open-water swim at the start of 2022. My sister will be my guide for this swim, unfortunately she has not yet made the cut for athlete of the month – bit of a sore spot!
9. What do you do outside of training?
I have a very busy schedule with my rehab and have also started back at uni this year. I am eagerly waiting for the arrival of my very own Labradoodle in the coming weeks.
10. What’s your one guilty pleasure?
Watching a George Clooney film.
