ATHLETE OF THE MONTH – SEPTEMBER 2015

LouAbram AOTM1

Congratulations to Louisa Abram on being selected as Red Dog’s Athlete of the Month for September 2015.   Well done !!!

Lou takes out this month's award for being crowned World Champion at the Aquathlon World Championships in Chicago, USA.

She competed 2 days later in the Standard Distance World Championships and despite crashing on the bike, ran herself into 3rd place (only 15 seconds off Silver).

All this just weeks after placing 7th in the 70.3 World Championship in Austria.  Absolutely inspirational!!

A big thank you to Endura, All Hose and Valves, Shoes Feet Gear and RHP Physiotherapy for donating this months’ prizes.

1.           Red Dog AOTM, how do you feel about that?

Fantastic ! Honoured.. thank you!

2.           What attracted you to the club?

I first started swimming with Trent and the squad a few years ago when I began tri training.

I really enjoyed this training… so it was a natural progression to join the club last year.

Hopefully I can get to do some more sessions this year with the group.

3.           How much training do you do at the moment?

I train most days… sometimes two sessions and others just one. Love it!

4.           Least favourite session and why?

mmmm … I guess 1km time trial! ( who loves that !) Hard… but a great training tool to see where your swim is at.

5.           If you had one wish, what would it be?

A happy, healthy family.

6.           Favourite motivational quote?

“It it is important to you… you will find a way. If not… you will find an excuse”

7.           The one bit of advice I’d give to a newbie is…

Enjoy it! We do this for fun… and there is always another race if things don’t go to plan.

8.           My next race is…

World Duathlon Championships in Adelaide on 18th October ! Not sure I am ready for this but will have a go!

9.           I couldn’t do what I do without…

My hubby, my family and Marley (staffy). Simple.

10.       What do you do outside of triathlons?

Work, cook, spend time with family and friends.

11.       What’s your one guilty pleasure?

Definitely chips or wedges post race and a good wine.
