ATHLETE OF THE MONTH – JULY 2023
DEEPALI KAUR

Congratulations to Deepali Kaur for being selected as Red Dog's Athlete of the Month for July 2023.

Dee wins this month's award for winning her age group at the Queensland Duathlon Championships.

A big thank you to our sponsors for donating this month’s prizes.

1.Red Dog AOTM, how do you feel about that?

Pretty epic, thank you! I was voted Miss Popular at school (unanimously) but the principal would not let me be Miss Popular as I would set the wrong example, due to my YOLO attitude (despite my top grades). So this is a bit like that. But this time  justice has been served!!

2. When did you join the club?

I could not swim 25 metres when I joined.  So it made complete sense to join one of the most elite clubs in Brisbane. Testament to the coaches for taking on a complete rookie and giving me the confidence to do triathlons. Some of my best friends now are from this club. Aisling asked me to mention her name here.

3. How much training do you do at the moment?

60 -90 minutes every day – unless obvs Aisling wants to try one of the 500 wine bars in Brisbane or something more fun comes up.

4. What’s your favourite session and why?

Running cause I am actually ok at it and you get max chats!! I train with the group for mega lols. Being the class clown is a life ambition. Everything else is secondary.

5. Who’s your ideal training partner and why?

This is too much power. I would set up a festival at Enoggera. So we will do the swim, ride up Nebo and the trail run. Just when everyone is tired and high on endorphins, hit them with beers and cocktails. Set up tents and basically have a all-day & night partay!!

6. Favourite motivational quote?

Don’t be dull. It is so boring!

7. The one bit of advice I’d give to a newbie is…

If it is your first, enjoy it, chat to people, unless you are being paid at the end or you are elite. It is a long time to be miserable. Do the training but omg please live life. Trent builds in ‘hangover’ days. So unless you are elite, just fly high on the endorphin train!

Also the only reason to give up is if you break an ‘important’ bone. Everything else is just a part of the experience. Be like Lisa, smile!

8. What’s your next event?

I am thinking of doing HB100.

 9. What do you do outside of training?

Mainly live a hot girl life. Scuba dive, now camp, degustation, wine, cocktails, do a lot of social life organising with the girls, stare at my dogs with the look of true love for hours & work so I can support the salmon & sardine only life style for my gorgeous dogs.

10. What’s your one guilty pleasure?

Hot Boys and Hot dogs. One of this is true.
