ATHLETE OF THE MONTH – FEBRUARY 2016

 Therese Rennick

Congratulations to Therese Rennick, AOTM for February 2016. Well done!!!

Therese takes out this month's award for her positive attitude and commitment to training throughout February.

A big thank you to Shoes Feet Gear, GMN Vegie Prepi, Valley Pool, Yeronga Pool and Buzz Emporium for donating this month’s prizes.

1.           Red Dog AOTM, how do you feel about that?

Wow. I am in a state of shock; however, I am very humbled and absolutely honoured to have been awarded AOTM. Thank you!

2.           What attracted you to the club?

Initially, it was the Beginners Program. I wanted a challenge to get me out of a slump, so I signed up for the 2015 Noosa Triathlon. I knew that my best chance of succeeding and to making it to Race Day, was to get involved with a local Training Group and to surround myself with like-minded people. I saw that Red Dog was running a Beginners group, so I jumped onboard.  Best decision I have made in years!

3.           How much training do you do at the moment?

I'm currently training 7days a week, 2-3 sessions per discipline, per week.

4.           Least favourite session and why?

Tuesday's Track Session; it can be so boring running around in circles, and let's face it, there is no where to hide! BUT, it has its key benefits, so I try to focus on those.

5.           If you had one wish, what would it be?

To be able to run like the wind.

6.           Favourite motivational quote?

"Challenges are what makes life interesting, and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful" Joshua J Marine.

7.           The one bit of advice I’d give to a newbie is… Don't be intimidated, be inspired!

8.           My next race is… Mooloolaba Triathlon.

9.           I couldn’t do what I do without…

My wonderful RDTT training buddies - you know who you are! Your ongoing support & advice never falls on deaf ears. And of course, and my very supportive (and understanding) husband, Ashley.

10.       What do you do outside of triathlons?

My Job can consume my life at times, however, when I am not Training (or with the RDTT crew coffee'ing after training), I am spending quality time with my husband, friends and family, reading books, watching reality (trash)  TV or researching new ways to style & furnish my home.

11.       What’s your one guilty pleasure?

Vanilla bean ice cream, with a good sprinkle of salted peanuts. It sounds gross, but it is amazing!
