ATHLETE OF THE MONTH – APRIL 2013

JoCochrane AOTM

Congratulations to Jo Cochrane who wins the April AOTM award for coming 4th (F45-49) in the TQ Sprint Triathlon and for being selected in the Olympic Distance Worlds Team in London in September 2013.

A big thank you to Endura, Active Stride and the team at No More Knots for donating this months’ prize.

1. Reddog AOTM, how do you feel about that?

Awesome (and about time)! Was wondering what more you had to do to get it.

2. What attracted you to the squad?

Troy O’Shea in those pink togs.  Oh, I’m only human.

3. If you were Reddogcoach for the week, what would you do differently?

Ban getting up in the dark

4. How much training do you do at the moment?

About 15-20 hours

5. Least favourite session and why?

Run off the WT (should be renamed WTF session) because it hurts

6. If you had one wish, what would it be?

That Jeffie could keep up on the bike…

7. Favourite motivational quote?

The pain is only temporary

8. What advice would you give to otherReddogswho would like to be AOTM?

You don’t have to be one of the legends out the front all the time (it’s probably more fun at the back anyway)!  Train consistently, don’t try to smash yourself every session but keep focussed on improving and recovering (see 11). You never know what you can do unless you try.

9. What are your goals?

Cairns HIM (it used to be to ‘chick’ Flouchy) and Worlds in London.

10. Who would be your ideal training partner?

Hmm, a Reddog inspirational mix.  It’d have Bob’s feet (to draft off), Rosie’s bum, Margo’s abs, Nic’s smile, Joey’s humour, Sweeney’s heckling and a little Trent recorded voice saying ‘lift your knees’, ‘lean forward’, ‘lift your elbow’ etc.  Pretty much like coming to a Reddog squad any day.  Oh, and not forgetting Lexi, who reminds me that running can be fun.

11. What do you do outside of triathlons?

Drink 1 recovery G&T and fall asleep before the 7:30 report.  Play the piano, cook, Iron(ing) Woman, golf and tennis, do the Reddog admin and fit in being a full time mum for Kate and Jack and bike assist to Jeffie.
