November Athlete of the Month 2012 - Craig Roberts

Reddog AOTM, how do you feel about that?

Very surprised but have been training hard of late and my race times for the Gatorade series have been improving as well. It’s also very motivating for me just getting the recognition from Reddog.

What attracted you to the sport of triathlon?

Originally just lunch time swim squad for fitness, then Trent and also all you guys I train with encouraged me to start riding and running so it was a goal then to do a triathlon and I really enjoy them now.

If you were Reddog coach for the week, what would you do differently?

Maybe just a little group talk for a minute of two each training session on food for training and racing both before and after and sort some fact from fiction about all we hear and read

How much training do you do at the moment?

My favourite is swimming so I do that 3 to 4 times a week, then ride 2 to 3 times a week and run once. I also do a couple of PT doing weights

Least  favourite session and why?

Running, because it hurts my lungs and legs sooo much

If you had one wish, what would it be?

2 new knees please

Favourite motivational quote?

Pain is short, glory is forever

What advice would you give to other Reddogs who would like to be AOTM?

Train hard to reach your own personal goals; other people are taking notice of what's going on.

What are your goals?

I'm just currently doing the Gatorade series for this season; I want to do an Olympic distance next season

Who would be your ideal training partner?

More the merrier I reckon then there is always someone on your tail and always someone to chase and a bit of friendly rivalry is always pushes you to a higher level
