ATHLETE OF THE MONTH – OCTOBER 2021
JACK MORTON

Congratulations to Jack Morton for being selected as Red Dog’s Athlete of the Month for October 2021.

Jack wins this month’s award for two outstanding performances - the fastest Red Dog at Raby Bay and second place in the Mates Wave at Noosa.  Well done!

A big thank you to our sponsors for donating this month’s prizes.

1.Red Dog AOTM, how do you feel about that?

Genuinely shocked, so many people have done so well in the last month and to be recognised amongst these achievements is a real honour.

2. What attracted you to the club?

Alana, WAIT! Read that question wrong!  My old boss (known as Butters to some of the more seasoned members of the club) made it one of my KPIs to join Red Dog. Haven't looked back.

3. How much training do you do at the moment?

Probably about 12 hours per week. I try to get at least 3 swims, rides, and runs in.

4. What’s your favourite swim set and why?

Controversial one, but Friday morning with paddles and band.  I feel like I owe an apology to everyone in the squad for liking this set so much.

5. If you had one wish, what would it be?

That the latest Star Wars movies didn't suck so much.

6. Favourite motivational quote?

"Don't Die Wondering" - I had this old drill sergeant of a swim coach when I was growing up who always used to say it before a race, and it's really stuck with me.

7. The one bit of advice I’d give to a newbie is…

All the fancy expensive gear is nice, but your money is far better spent on a coach. Don't be the guy/girl with all the gear but no idea. It took me years to figure this out.

8.What’s your next event?

Robina Olympic Distance in a few weeks, then hopefully get to duke it out with Tristo again at the Rumble.

9. What do you do outside of training?

I try to maximise my time at Noosa. I occasionally manage building design consultants.

10. What’s your one guilty pleasure?

I don't feel guilty about anything I find pleasurable.
