ATHLETE OF THE MONTH – FEBRUARY 2020

LARA CONDON

Congratulations to Lara Condon, AOTM for February 2020.

Lara wins for her commitment to training and consistent positive attitude. Well done!

    1. Red Dog AOTM, how do you feel about that?

Shocked and like a fraud, I thought only speedy people won AOTH!

    1. What attracted you to the club?

My friends Rob and Jeanine were part of the club and I wanted to be as fast as them. I really enjoy the variety of people and sessions and the fact that training with fast people helps to lift the level of back of packers like me.

    1. How much training do you do at the moment?

Averaging 13 hrs a week at moment.

    1. Least favourite session and why?

Any morning swim session, going from fast asleep to a cold pool is just wrong and makes me question my life choices every time I do it.

    1. If you had one wish, what would it be?

To have some natural talent to work with J

    1. Favourite motivational quote?

I have 2 that I tell myself all the time – Comparison is the thief of joy and that hard days are what makes you stronger.

    1. The one bit of advice I’d give to a newbie is…

Turn up and have a go – even if you are slow, triathlon is a great sport to be involved in and you can get a great sense of satisfaction and enjoyment from the training and get to meet some wonderful likeminded people.   If people see you giving it a red hot go to the best of your ability you will get nothing but support and encouragement.

    1. My next race is…

    Tweed this weekend.

    1. I couldn’t do what I do without…

Fun friends & coach to make even awful hard sessions bearable.  And nanna naps on the wkend.

    1. What do you do outside of triathlons?

At the moment to be honest not much – have you seen Coach Caths Port Mac IM program!

    1. What’s your one guilty pleasure?

Ben & Jerrys Caramel Sutra OMG that stuff is the best and a large part of why I still can’t go up hills fast on the bike.
