May Athlete of the Month

How did you come to the decision to compete in the Fina Worlds Masters in Sweden in 2010?
After trying to start a family unsuccessfully for the past 7 years, I needed to divert my energies in a different direction.  As I work long hours I needed to have a goal outside of my work commitments, I have always enjoyed swimming so I thought I would give it a go!
What are your goals?
Lose weight, get fit, get faster and look younger!  However I may need surgery for the fourth goal!!

How many session are you currently doing per week?
As many as I can fit in around my work commitments, ideally 5 but would like to be doing 7.

What athlete do you admire and why?
It has to be Janine Wilson-she is such an inspiration not only to me but to whole bunch of other athletes.  Janine is friendly and encouraging to all people regardless of their ability.  Janine is so grounded for an elite athlete.  Janine is an all round lovely person, and I am humbled in the presence of such a great athlete.  Janine deserves to be the best.

If you were Reddog coach for a week what would you do differently?
Call Tom!!!!  Only kidding, I would organise a ‘bonding’ snow ski trip to The New Zealand Alps.  However I respect and 100% trust Trent as my coach.

If you had one wish?
I wish that all my friends and family have safe and happy lives.

Favourite Quote?
This quote is one I live by everyday in everything I do:  If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

What advise would you give anybody thinking about starting out in swimming?
Hang in there, it has to get easier!!

Who would be your ideal training partner?
Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Jason Statham.

Do you think male tri-athletes should go back to racing in sluggos and singlets?
Only if they want us girls to watch them!  It is a long race to watch when you don’t have anything to look at!  Bring back the sluggos and singlets!

What advise would you give other Reddoggers who would like to be AOTM?
Well, since I have been honoured with this award, it proves that it’s not ability but dedication.  Turn up for practice, give every session your best and be consistent.
